CoComment & the Conversation Index

No sooner does Stowe Boyd throw out an interesting notion (that our current fixation with rating blog impact on *publisher* stats is misguided because it leaves out the most important part of the equation for him — the conversation that blogs generate) than we have a new product launch trying to meet that need. Stowe dubbed his idea the Conversational Index — the ratio of comments to blog posts. Read the follow-up discussion to this post. Good stuff.
So now CoComment gives you a way to start tracking, if not indexing, your own comments. It uses a Firefox script to help you collect & track blog comments you make & the responses to them. It’s the sort of thing you’ve been able to do on Flickr for some time, but now you can round up your thoughts on most blogs. Really cool & we look forward to playing with it. As Jeremy correctly notes, now we have another tool to better monitor this uptake in conversation.
