ShopSavvy for Windows Phone 7, finally. . .

Most of you assumed it would never happen (I was beginning to agree), but Microsoft has finally released ShopSavvy for Windows Phone 7. After much wrangling and negotiating with Microsoft they have decided to release our app WITHOUT live scanning for the time being. They have their own ‘tag’ app that uses live scanning and I think they want to give it a headstart before allowing ShopSavvy to go full-on live. Anyway, the app looks pretty cool (full on metro styling) and will give you the same results that the iPhone and Android versions provide. It is definitely a 1.0 version – i.e. not 4.0 (like iPhone and soon Android), but it is a good start. You can download it now from the Marketplace.

Does not work with Slovak Region format in WP7 settings… After scanning a barcode it gives me a 2 screens long error message about format type missmatch or exception or something like that.. It does work if I change the Region format to English(United States) and restart the phone, but then my calendar is messed up along with other region specific things in the OS and those are more important for me, so for now the app is useless for me. So now, as I switched back to Slovak settings, the app crashes right after start with the same error message.

Second thing: 2 out of 5 items scanned were wrongly identified. I guess it is a coincidence that a Ferrero Raphaelo has the same barcode in Europe as something else in US. So no big deal there.

And last thing: The local search just didn’t work, but that might be just a fact, that there are no local bussinesses in Slovakia that are submitting price information to you.

Well one more thing. Why there is infinite history panorama loop?

Is the local function in the WP7 app supposed to work? Or is it stuck on Dallas??

Do you anticipate being allowed to add live scanning in the future?
