ShopSavvy: Android v iPhone
Until last month almost twice as many Android users downloaded ShopSavvy than iPhone users. Two weeks ago we hit a peak of 50,000 downloads in a single day – approximately 25,000 downloads on iOS and 25,000 downloads on Android. The trend is continuing. Nielsen is reporting that Android’s lead over iOS has stopped growing – perhaps this is why we have achieved parity.
Interesting. Only a month earlier Nielsen put out this report http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/?p=27418 which says, in part, “Half of those surveyed in March 2011 who indicated they had purchased a smartphone in the past six months said they had chosen an Android device. A quarter of recent acquirers said they bought an iPhone”.
I guess one would also need to factor in upgrades vs new purchases, which I don’t think are reflected in these numbers. My hunch is that more of the iPhone “sales” are actually upgrades than what happens with Android.
