Ads in ShopSavvy 24.4% CTR!

AdOns haven’t been live in ShopSavvy for very long (maybe 12 hours) but a lot of users are interacting with them. Of those who were delivered an AdOn, 24.4% actually clicked on the advertisement. Those are some pretty good numbers, especially compared with traditional banner ads we ran for sponsors like Visa who saw a 2% CTR or less.

ShopSavvy Explained (Part 4 of 5) – AdOns

AdOns were first made available in ShopSavvy 4.1 and originally designed exclusively as our advertising framework. AdOns can leverage native features of the app using deployable HTML5 code. New features can be deployed without time consuming updates to the base application. Additionally, AB testing on the iPhone and Android is now feasible.

AdOns allow us to leverage UPC+GPS Pairs delivering coupons, rebates, warranties, games, facebook like programs, app promotions, targeted video, compare/contrast features, user generated content, loyalty card integration and so on. Finally, integrated with QuickPay, Adons can allow publishers to integrated a wallet into an app by simply dropping in our easy to use SDK.

ShopSavvy + iTunes = Fun!

If you have been scanning books, dvds or music today you may have noticed a new feature in ShopSavvy called ‘Buy it Digitally‘. Whenever you scan a product with ShopSavvy that is available in Apple’s iTunes store you will see the option to ‘Buy it Digitally‘. You will be able to preview the product by playing the trailer or simply buying it from the iTunes store. It is a simple idea, but we think it might be pretty useful for lots of you. I know that I forget to check iTunes before buying certain items only to realize I could have saved time and money buying them from Apple. We hope you enjoy the feature we call a ‘fourth row AdOn’.

Sam’s Club App Chooses ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner

We announced this morning that the newly released Sam’s Club App incorporates ShopSavvy’s barcode scanner — another huge endorsement of ShopSavvy technology on the heels of our Consumer Reports announcement last month.

Here’s an excerpt from today’s press release:

Sam’s Club Selects ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner by Big in Japan to Power Mobile Application

Must-have app for Sam’s Club members uses built-in scanner to deliver product details, member reviews and more

DALLAS, Nov. 9, 2010 — Big in Japan, the leader in barcode-powered shopping by mobile consumers, announced that Sam’s Club®, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and serving more than 47 million members in the U.S., has released the Sam’s Club App for iPhone, Android and Blackberry, incorporating the ShopSavvy® ScannerKit SDK.

“We are delighted to work with Sam’s Club and to have our technology available to their members nationwide,” said Alexander Muse, co-founder of Big in Japan. “It’s a tremendous vote of confidence by Sam’s Club, and we are grateful for their trust”…

Like other apps utilizing the ShopSavvy ScannerKit SDK, the Sam’s Club App will incorporate AdOns®, the Big in Japan UPC/GPS mobile advertising framework. The framework uses the scanned product’s UPC code and phone’s GPS location data to serve highly targeted advertising at the point of highest purchase intent – namely, when the mobile consumer is standing in a retail store with a potential purchase in hand.

Interested companies and developers can access the ShopSavvy ScannerKit SDK at freebarcodescanner.com. The Sam’s Club app is available in the iTunes Store.
