ShopSavvy and Capital One have been partners in an innovative approach to mobile shopping, and it’s time to celebrate. Capital One Deals has surpassed the expectations of both companies.
The initiative gave holders of Capital One Rewards cards $20 on purchases of $40 or more when they used ShopSavvy Wallet. Capital One Deals introduced shoppers to brands during the shopping experience, which made it unique in the credit card industry. Capital One was also first among financial services institutions to launch an application programming initiative to allow for more robust partnerships with products and platforms.
Powering the initiative was ShopSavvy Wallet, which allows users to make mobile purchases with just one tap from dozens of major retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Nordstrom, Toys ‘R’ Us, JC Penney and Home Depot. ShopSavvy Wallet users who scan an item in a store and see a better deal online can purchase it immediately without ever leaving ShopSavvy.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, we’ve dramatically enhanced ShopSavvy’s user interface and product information to make it simpler than ever to get the information you need, so you can purchase items directly through the app.
All of you smartphone and tablet users are increasingly skipping the store lines and identifying products to purchase via keyword searches. That’s why we’ve updated our app to ensure we’re giving you the information you need. From full-screen product photos to demo videos and community reviews – you now have more details than ever to make your purchasing decisions within the app.
Just one example of the many data enhancements to the shopping app: more than 10,000 videos of men’s and women’s shoes, clothing and accessories in use. Our hope is that this added information will help you feel even more confident making online purchases without ever leaving ShopSavvy.
Some other cool features in the ShopSavvy update include:
- Cleaner, easier-to-navigate user interface
- More product reviews that are conveniently accessible directly from the product screen
- Higher-resolution product photos to give you a thorough understanding of what you’re considering for purchase
- Thousands of additional videos to view directly within the product screen
- 30 percent increase in special deals and offers, a result of ShopSavvy’s partnerships with additional retailers, aggregators and other deal sources such as Fancy, a popular mobile app used to discover, collect and buy from a crowd-curated catalog of goods
- The ability to identify new products of interest to you through the “Related Products” functionality
- Enhanced option for you to flag incorrect or incomplete data and add prices for local stores that aren’t already listed within the app.
As if ShopSavvy hadn’t already made saving money easier, millions of Android and iOS users will gain a much richer user experience through this update, making it even easier for shoppers to get the product, pricing and additional information they need to make online purchases with confidence. This revamp not only provides unprecedented levels of detail about the products you’re looking to buy, but sets the stage for greatly increased sharing among members of ShopSavvy’s growing shopping community.

One of the most significant changes we’ve ever made to our shopping platform went live today with the launch of ShopSavvy’s new product page on iPhone.
This release provides additional product information, local store listings and photos our customers have been asking for, along with videos. It’s all simple and easy to use. We’re confident that these changes combined with the just-completed improvements to the back end of our system make ShopSavvy the best source for local and online results and product data.
You’ll notice that many products already have massive amounts of new information, and in the coming weeks and months, we will be extending this content across more and more products and categories. You won’t be able to get anything like it anywhere else – and it’s always just a finger tap away. You can download the new release here, and see some screenshots below.
I’d like to thank our iOS team, which spent more than a few sleepless weekends to get these changes to our users for the busiest holiday shopping days. Big thanks as well to the back-end team that powers our local and online results, the foundation of ShopSavvy’s brand promise to users. I’m excited about what this new product page is today, but I’m thrilled about the direction it will take us in the coming months. Today we released Product Cloud 2.0, the latest iteration of ShopSavvy’s proprietary big-data platform that enables our millions of active users to easily find real-time pricing, inventory, reviews and other information for more than 20 million products. Field testing of top price-comparison apps shows that ShopSavvy consistently displays more local store results as well as online price results and lower prices for a greater variety of products than Amazon Mobile, eBay’s RedLaser, and other major platforms.
Based on a study of 600 random product searches across popular product categories such as consumer electronics, video games, books, movies, home and family, and office products, ShopSavvy outpaced other apps in the number of results displayed. For example, with Product Cloud 2.0 ShopSavvy displayed on average 30 percent more local, in-store offers than RedLaser, as well as almost twice as many online price results. This new back-end update continues our commitment to local commerce and our customers will start to see improvement in results and content immediately.
Innovations like Product Cloud 2.0 bring much more robust connections to ShopSavvy Marketplace, which allows our retailers to enter and manage their inventory, price and store information directly into our mobile marketplace of retailers. We’ve been adding around 150 new retailer accounts each month and Product Cloud 2.0 advances our local store results in particular when our customers want convenience and immediacy of buying locally.
ShopSavvy has the best price on new products 67 percent of the time, while Amazon has the best prices only 5 percent of the time. The average competitor has the best result only 17 percent of the time. For used products, ShopSavvy has the best price 96 percent of the time, while eBay’s RedLaser only has the best prices 12 percent of the time. The average shopping platform has the best prices 9.5 percent of the time.

We are not trying to steer customers to any particular retailer or tilt the playing field for one retailer over another.
